What is a Power of Attorney?

A procuração é o acto pelo qual alguém “outorgado” recebe de outrém “outorgante” poderes para, em seu nome, praticar actos ou administrar interesses “poderes”.  Todo o acto ilícito pode ser objecto de mandato, com excepção do testamento, do depoimento pessoal e da adopção.

Power of Attorney is the act by which someone is “given” the power to another “party”, on it’s behalf, acts or administer interests “powers.” Every illicit act may be a mandate, with the exception of the testament, the personal testimony and adoption.

 

Who can have a Power of Attorney issued at the Consulate?

Os angolanos maiores de 18 anos ou emancipados, no gozo dos direitos civis, estão aptos para emitir uma procuração mediante termo lavrado nos livros da secção Consular.

Angolan people over 18 years old or emancipated, in the enjoyment of civil rights, are able to issue a Power of Attorney before the terms recorded in the books of the Consular Section.

 

What are the requisites to issue a Power of Attorney at the Consulate?

The party – one that delegates powers – must appear in person at the Consulate and present the original and copy of the following documents:

  1. Identity card or passport;
  2. Norm provided by the Consulate, or to be removed from this page, without abbreviations, computerized or in capital letters with blue or black pen. (See norm for issuing Power of Attorney).

All documents must be translated into Portuguese and authenticated by the consular services.

 

Types of Power of Attorneys

  • Empowered to civil administration
  • Empowered to commercial management
  • Empowered to run business, subsidiaries, branches, limited companies, limited societies or in command of actions when their managers or agents.
  • Empowered to contract any simple, legal powers and other powers.
